About CourierPost (now NZPost)

NZ Post, earlier known as Courier Post, is a state-run postal service and logistics operator in New Zealand. The company has its roots in the 170+ year-old national postal system of the country, called the New Zealand Post Office. Since its separation in 1987, NZ Post has amassed continuous support from several banking agencies. Its current logistics network is the biggest in the country.

Apart from sending and receiving mail, NZ Post also aids in complete shipping assistance for eCommerce companies. It provides delivery management for small & medium-sized enterprises with the availability of scheduled pickups. My NZ Post Business is tailor-made to suit the needs of smaller businesses with a weekly order load of less than 100. It’s available for domestic and international shipments and bulk mail.

It has a feature called Economy Bulk International that allows vendors to ship a consignment of 300+ items to over 220 countries within 3 to 13 days. However, the weight of a single item cannot exceed 2kgs. Therefore, this might not be the ideal solution for shipping large items like furniture or white goods. This type of delivery is not tracked in real-time, so order status notifications are only received at key touchpoints.

The maximum weight limit for domestic freight forwarding is 25 kg, and it’s available in 3 variants - Economy, Courier, and Express. All three offer similar services except transit durations. Economy delivery takes 2-3 days, Courier reaches the next day, while Express is superfast, arriving within 30 minutes. All of these are available across New Zealand, even in remote rural locations. Real-time tracking updates are regularly sent to customers and business owners. They also provide shipping insurance of upto USD 2000. Sellers can opt for Proof of Delivery (POD), Saturday delivery, etc.

Under international freight forwarding and warehousing, NZ Post covers everything from picking and packing to supply chain management and customs support. This service allows businesses to send individual packages weighing upto 30kg or bulk consignments. All international shipments are transported through air or sea freight shipping vessels with skilled technicians. Businesses can also opt for NZ Post’s warehousing solutions to store their products near their targeted locations for faster fulfillment. NZ Post provides shippers with a list of documents necessary for cross-border or international shipping. They manage customs arrival and security checks on behalf of businesses.

NZ Post offers an incredible ecommerce store setup feature for new and advanced entrepreneurs that allows for easy store and shipping carrier integration. This service is known as eShip. It is a scalable feature that gives businesses room to grow with as many carriers or tech abilities as they need. With eShip, online sellers can choose from numerous delivery options like same-day/next-day delivery, hyperlocal delivery, overnight express, etc. They can also gauge the efficacy of their business strategies by looking at performance reports and analytics.

In all, NZ Post is a great shipping platform to work with because of the flexibility it offers in terms of tracking, delivery, and returns. It’s also a very environmentally conscious carrier trying to reduce its carbon footprint. It has electric and hybrid vehicles in its fleet and partners with CarbonClick to offset the carbon emissions from its deliveries.

The rich functionality that NZPost offers can be further enhanced by partnering with third-party logistics technology platforms like ClickPost, which can leverage API. To utilize NZ Post’s full potential, try using ClickPost’s NZ tracking API today.
