About La Poste
La Poste is the largest and most widely used postal service based in France. It provides a number of services both domestically and internationally, ranging from mail and letter to express and parcel delivery options. In addition to the standard postal services, it also offers banking and insurance facilities. It operates in mainland France, as well as the numerous French enclaves and overseas regions located throughout the world.
La Poste was established in the year 1991 as a public-owned company. It was founded after the split of the French PTT, a government agency that dealt with mail, telegraph, and telephone services in France. The primary objective behind the establishment of La Poste was to separate postal services from the national telephone company, improve efficiency and encourage private competition. It processed as many as 15 billion messages in the year 2012. It is also Europe's second-largest parcel delivery service, with a market share of over 15%.
La Poste offers three tiers of delivery services: First Class Letter, Second Class Letter, and Green Letter. The Green Letter Delivery option is its most recent addition, introduced in 2011. It emits about 15% less CO2 than First Class Letters. Regarding parcels and shipment delivery, La Poste also offers three delivery options: standard delivery with priority letters exclusively in metropolitan France, Colissimo Delivery for domestic shipments, and Colissimo Expert Delivery for international shipments.
The company claims their standard delivery shipments are ‘economical and fast’, and are free for orders above a minimum amount of 25 Euros. The Colissimo Delivery shipments can be picked up from several pick-up points above 10,000 post offices and 15,000 local merchants in France. They are also free above a minimum amount of 40 Euros. The Colissimo Expert International Deliveries are the most expensive, with a minimum amount of 12 Euros per shipment, and free only on orders above 60 Euros. ClickPost has a tracking and shipping API integration with La Poste that allows businesses to access its services and ensure a hassle-free shipping and delivery experience for their customers in France.
